What is Aadhaar Health Smart Card?

An Aadhar health smart card would store the health information of the senior citizens along with their personal details, which will be fed through the registration of their biometric data. This data will be updated every time they will get a treatment and shared with other medical professionals whenever needed.

What are the Advantages ofAadhaar Health Smart Card?

• Since the personal, financial, and health information of all the people would come under the same platform, monitoring health and paying for medical expenses will become simple and convenient. It will also help in promoting a cashless economy.
• Patients won’t need to carry prescriptions, medical reports, etc. in thick files. The doctors will be able to go through the medical history of a patient easily as they will just need to simply enter their Aadhaar number and biometric password in the system.
• Healthy insurance companies will be able to provide well-suited and affordable policies to the people by referring to their biometric data.

The Aadhaar health smart card system is still in the nascent stage. However, the government plans to start with a pilot project in 15 districts this fiscal and will take further action based on its performance.
