Livin’ it up at the movies!
PGIMAC students of TSCMC, Nikita Desai and Aveent Kaur Talwar share their memorable experiences of being a part of a 3-day carnival of open-air movie screenings.
Throwback to the 80’s, Mumbai’s nightlife had brilliant platform that supported independent and underground music acts in the city – Razzberry Rhinoceros. After a pause of a decade, the legendary space is breathing again. This time around it’s adding more than just music to its vibe. Clinging onto the charm of the beach-view, this is a new start for ‘Razz’.
Taking the route of creating a cultural club, one of the several activities planned, is movie screenings. Delighted at the thought of working at such an event, PGIMAC students of TSCMC, Nikita Desai and Aveent Kaur Talwar, seem to have had an amazing experience whilst learning the nitty-gritties of handling such events.
When summer had tossed everyone into a bun, the students were out in the field to set up and be a part of one of a kind experience that Sunset Cinema Club had organized.
The event took place on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of April 2017. The open air set up with a lush green lawn overlooking the sea, was a refreshing break for the cinema lovers. The three-day long event showcased famous movies like Pretty Woman, The Usual Suspects and Kill Bill. The event commenced each day at 6pm with musical performances followed by the movie screening.
The students had to usher the guests and manage the crowd. While that looks easy on the surface, they had their set of challenges to learn from. Ensuring a smooth wrap up of the event each day alongside crowd management task, helped them understand how such aspects of on ground events are handled. Sunset Cinema Club’s film carnival was a fitting opportunity for the TSCMC students to get the basics right and understand the damage control process to such events.
Some breezy memories mixed with wonderful learning opportunity was a ticket to their movie-cation!
