What’s the Difference Between Blogging and Content Marketing?

Most people would use the words blogging and content marketing interchangeably. However, a professional would know the difference between the two, which is considerable.

The following are some of the main things that differentiate blogging from content marketing:

Keywords Incorporation
Content marketing is based on facts and research, unlike blogging which may not use advanced marketing techniques. For instance, content marketers use a variety of tools to identify the most suitable keywords for their websites and blogs. It’s one of the main goals to use keywords that can get maximum online visibility for the pages without violating Google’s SEO regulations.

Emphases on CTA
A blog that capitalizes on content marketing tries to encourage the readers to take a particular action. For instance, the marketer may ask the readers to sign up for a newsletter, download an eBook, etc. The goal is to add a call to action aka CTA in the content. However, plain blogging doesn’t usually use this technique.

Social Media Presence
A lot of bloggers have social media accounts. However, they don’t take their social media presence as seriously as content marketers do. This is because content marketers try to expand their network by communicating with other popular bloggers on platforms like Twitter and Facebook. They also use these social media channels to run promotions and attract new readers. You will also find them using some of the best social media managers like Hootsuite and Buffer.

Do you want to evolve from just being a blogger to a successful content marketing guru? If your answer is “yes”, then do check out the professional diploma course in digital marketing here. It’s cheap but offers a lot of value.
