How to Buy Your First DSLR Camera
If you have never bought a camera in your life, then starting with a DSLR camera can be a good idea. It’s also a good upgrade from a standard point-and-shoot camera as it allows you to capture high-quality images with various advanced techniques.

If you don’t know anything about DSLR cameras, then you can easily end up picking a wrong product. Thus, make sure you go through these points before you make your final decision:

1. Megapixel Resolution
Camera manufacturers often highlight the “megapixels” of their products and push the idea that a higher megapixel count translates into higher quality images. However, a camera’s megapixels aren’t that important. At one point, cameras packing higher megapixels start to lose the advantage. In fact, most entry-level cameras are available at 15 megapixels image sensing capacity today which is more than enough to get decent images, mainly because the quality is more affected by the sensors and the lens.

2. Sensor Size
Every DLSR camera comes with a sensor inside that records the images and saves them on the installed memory card. You want a big sensor so that the images are more detailed and clearer. However, since the cameras with the biggest sensors are also the costliest, you can pick one with APS-C or micro four-thirds sensor as both will do a good job.

3. Lenses
Lenses play a huge role in the quality of images that you can capture. Most entry-level cameras come with an 18-55mm zoom lens which is the least you should get. However, if you can one with a telephoto lens and/or a 55mm prime lens that it can be a huge bonus.

Apart from these points, make sure to consider other factors as well which include the build quality, details like LCD viewscreens, dedicated buttons for different functions, etc. Good luck!
