₹650 bn Approved for Mumbai Local Trains Revamping
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the government has sanctioned up to ₹650 billion for a slew of railway infrastructure projects covering Mumbai’s suburban network and the surrounding areas. These projects include the building of new infrastructure as well as upgradation of existing facilities.

Goyal said that considering how public amenity and infrastructure works are executed by the Indian Railways today, it’s possible that in the next 4 to 4.5 years, the rail network of Mumbai and the neighbouring suburban areas will “see a complete metamorphosis”.
