145 mn Farmers to Receive ₹75,000 cr Under PM-KISAN Scheme

Farmers across the country will receive fewer funds under the PM-KISAN scheme as the new finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved ₹12,000 less funds for the same. The original amount was ₹87,000 crores for FY20 as announced by union minister Piyush Goyal in the interim budget, but the approved amount is ₹75,000 crores.
In the footnote in the full Budget for FY20, it’s mentioned that the sum of ₹75,000 under PM-KISAN scheme is meant for 145 million farmer families i.e. the total number of families in the country.
