23,779 Hectares of Land for SEZs Left Unused, Says Suresh Prabhu
In a recent reply to the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Suresh Prabhu said that around 23,799 hectares of land that’s been allocated for the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) is still vacant. 

The Commerce and Industry Minister said that as on August 30, 2017, 23,799.20 hectares of land in the notified 369 SEZs is vacant and that the plots are acquired by the state governments as per their respective procedures. He also said that exports from these SEZs grew by 15% to 5.52 trillion ₹ in FY18.
