More than 25,800 Online Banking Fraud Cases Reported in 2017

More than 25,000 online banking fraud cases of Rs. 179 crores pertaining to Internet Banking and debit/credit cards were reported in 2017, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a written reply to the Parliament.
Out of these, 10,220 cases of online frauds involving Rs. 111.85 crores were reported in December 2017 quarter alone.
During the September quarter the total number of reported cases were 7,372, in June quarter the number was 5,148, and in March quarter abut 3,077.
