331 Infrastructure Projects Witness Cost Overrun of Rs 1.72 Lakh Crore

Thanks to multiple factors like delays, red tape, funds constraints, etc. as many as 331 infrastructure projects, each worth a minimum of Rs. 150 crores, have observed a cost overrun of Rs. 1.72 lakh crores, a government report says.
Although the original cost of completing the total 1,257 projects was Rs 15,76,903.56 crore, their revised cost is expected to be Rs 17,49,274.62 crore, an overrun of 10.9%, i.e. 1,72,371.06 crore.
Out of 1,257 projects, 2 have reported completion, 10 initiated, 304 on schedule, 274 delayed, 331 showing cost overrun, and 92 both time and cost overrun.
