5,000 Children Set Two Guinness Records on Gandhi Jayanti

In a special homage to Mahatma Gandhi, nearly 5,000 children participated in an attempt to record, assemble, and light solar-powered lamps. This event was held in honour of the freedom leader’s 150th Birth Anniversary, where the children took a pledge of non-violence towards the environment. The event is also said to have set two new world records.

The first record is of the largest number of solar lamps being lit through assembly in a single location. The second is of the largest number of students learning about environmental sustainability in one place.

The exact number of participants is expected to be released by officials of the Guinness Book of World Records, who were present at this event.
