54,000 BSNL Employees May Soon Lose Jobs
Thousands of BSNL employees stare at a bleak future as this Wednesday, the board of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) cleared a proposal to lay off as many as 54,000 employees.  This alarming decision was made on the recommendation of an expert panel that was set up by the government to improve the condition of the state-run telecom company.

According to a report, the job cuts will slash BSNL’s workforce of 174,312 employees by around 30%.

BSNL is struggling to maintain its position in the industry. In FY18, it reported a 20% lower revenue than the previous financial year.
