7 Months Passed, RBI Still has no Deputy Governor to Oversee Banks

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is operational since past 7 months without a full-time deputy governor (DG) to supervise the public sector as well as private sector banks in the country.
RBI’s previous DG S S Mundra completed his term in July, and since then the position has been vacant.
The Centre had earlier arranged a panel of short-listed candidates to select one that could succeed S S Mundra but dismissed them shortly. In December, it restarted the process once again but hasn’t appointed a candidate so far.
