7600 TRPs to be Appointed by Income Tax Department to Cover Entire Country

The Income Tax department has proposed to get about 7,600 new Tax Return Preparers (TRPs) on board so that every district in the country can have at least one income tax expert to assist the taxpayers with their IT returns.
The chief policy-making body of the tax department, i.e. Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to take the 2006 Tax Return Preparer Scheme (TRPS) to the next level by covering every single one of the 708 districts of the country and making the service digital.
A senior IT official said that the plan is to make tax filing easier for the small taxpayers and save them from the hassle of going to a CA.
