Aadhaar-PAN Linking Deadline Likely to be Extended

The deadline for the linking of bank accounts with PAN, as declared mandatory by the centre for all individuals recently, is likely to be extended, a senior official said.
According to the official, if the Supreme Court rules in the favor of the union government, then the deadline of the linking, which is December 31 as of now, shall be extended by 3 months, thus making March 31 the new deadline.
They also said that the government has decided to void all the unlinked PANs after the deadline so as to eliminate the fake and duplicate ones from the system and automatically cancel the benami transactions.
