Affordable Housing: Maharashtra Govt May Join Hands with Landowners to Meet Target

To meet its affordable housing target of 10 lakh affordable homes in the state, and 5 lakh affordable homes in Mumbai alone by 2022, Maharashtra government is planning to partner with the landowners. A draft policy will be presented before the state Cabinet within a month, state housing minister Prakash Mehta said.

Mehta said that with regard to the surging land prices, the state government along with Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will buy land from landowners to push affordable housing.
