After Zomato, Uber Lays off Hundreds of Workers

Days after food delivery app Zomato laid off 600 workers, Uber has let go of 435 workers in its engineering and product teams. This was the company’s second round of cuts, a desperate move taken to sustain the business that’s reeling under financial pressure. In July, the company had laid off 400 workers in the marketing team.

Uber is currently struggling to become cash-flow positive. It reported a quarterly loss of 5.2 billion USD in August which made its slowest-ever revenue growth.
