Anil Ambani Plans to Shut Down 2G Business

After giving up on the direct-to-home (DTH) business, RCom owner Anil Ambani is now planning to take the same course of action with its GSM business.

Already under a high debt to the tune of Rs. 45,000 crores, RCom disclosed its plans to shut down its 2G services by the end of November this year. This comes in soon after the company announced that it will shut down the DTH business i.e. Reliance Big TV post the expiration of the license which is on November 21.

It’s apparent that Reliance is taking desperate measures to keep its business afloat. It even considered merging with Aircel but the deal was called off at the last moment.
