Bad Loans Problems: 27% of the Debt Owed to SBI Alone, PNB Next

Of the total debt owed to the public sector banks by the wilful defaulters, 27% is accounted to the State Bank of India (SBI) alone. The country’s largest lender is waiting for as many as 1,762 defaulters to repay the whopping Rs. 25 thousand crores.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) is next in the line of the “most-affected” banks as it’s dealing with 1,120 wilful defaulters that owe it Rs. 12 thousand crores.

Overall, 40% of the total outstanding loans are accounted by SBI and PNB alone.
