Bank of England Employees on Their First Strike in 50 Years

In a first in the past 50 years, the staff of the Bank of England has begun a strike against below-par salaries, thus highlighting the flaws in the public-sector wages standards in Britain.
As many as 150 people who work in the departments are impacted by the strike as about a dozen employees, many of which wearing masks of Governor Mark Carney, staged demonstrations outside the BoE’s central London headquarters this Tuesday.
The employees from the Unite trade union said that they are protesting the “derisory” pay structure adopted by the bank without the Union’s approval.
