Barclays Installs Sensors at Desks to Check on Staff
August 22, 2017
When Barclays bankers in London discovered odd black boxes underneath their desks recently, they approached the managers only to find out that these devices are being used by the investment bank to check how much time they actually spend on their desks.
These devices, that are called OccupEye, use motion and heat sensors to record the time the employees spend on their desks. According to a spokesperson, while the bank notified the Unite union and the staff regarding a “phased roll-out” of these devices, no specific memo was issued.
