Cabinet Gives Nod to Ujjwala Yojana Beneficiary Cover Expansion Target of 8 cr

Under the chairmanship of prime minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee gave a green signal to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to increase the beneficiaries target from 5 crores to 8 crores with the additional allocation of Rs. 4,800 crores.
An official statement from the ministry said that the decision was taken after considering the huge response that was received from the women in the rural areas regarding PMUY.
PMUY is a government scheme that aims at providing LPG connections to the rural populace by offering them a subsidy of Rs. 1,600 per account.
