Centre to Save Rs. 1,600 cr Every Year After GST, Says Ram Vilas Paswan

Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the government is projected to save Rs. 1,600 crores per year in the procurement of foodgrains due to the relaxation in taxes.

Paswan said that only GST is levied on the procurement of foodgrains and not the state taxes, which means that there is 18% reduction in the total taxes paid. In light of this information, the government is likely to save as much as Rs. 1,600 crores per annum, he said.
