Centre to Establish Sterner Disclosure Norms for Independent Directors
The government looks to create a rigid disclosure framework for independent directors under which they will be required to provide detailed information including reason for resignation from companies. They will also be reviewed on the basis of academic and professional qualification.

One of the proposals under the new framework that has been entertained is to mandate a 60-hour online course for individuals interested in independent directorship. After completing the course, they can clear an examination to qualify for the position.
