Contrary to Modi’s Vision, India May See Even More Jobs Reductions by as Much as 40%

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power 3 years ago, job creation was one of the most important pointers in his pitch for the people. However, job market only seems to get worse and worse with each new movement viz. the November’s note ban and the recent introduction of the GST regime.
According to India’s one of the biggest recruitment firms TeamLease Services Ltd. this year the manufacturing sector could observe about 30% to 40% reduction in the jobs compared to last year. Many other surveys and reports only seem to suggest that indeed Modi is far from creating 10 million jobs a year which he promised.
