Cryptocurrency Isn’t Legal in India: Arun Jaitley

Even as the popularity of cryptocurrency across India is increasing, finance ministry Arun Jaitley said that the Indian government doesn’t recognize the same as legal currency.

When asked whether the government has taken any decision regarding cryptocurrency, Jaitley said that the ministry is working on a recommendation. However, he added that the government’s take on the same is clear and it doesn’t recognize it as legal currency as of now.

Bitcoin, which is one of the fastest growing virtual currencies, recently touched a high of USD 11,434.
