E-commerce firms seek time to comply with labelling rule

India’s top web business organizations, including Flipkart and Amazon, have looked for time from the Center to guarantee that all items sold on their platforms show the ‘nation of cause’ mark, numerous individuals mindful of the conversations told ET.

At a virtual meeting with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on Wednesday, online retailers requested a window of 4-5 months to agree to the prerequisite planned for controlling Chinese imports in the midst of increased pressure between the two Asian mammoths, an administration official said.

Likewise present at the gathering were officials from Reliance Retail, Jio Platforms, and Tata Cliq alongside web-based business organizations, for example, Snapdeal, Udaan, Swiggy, Zomato, BigBasket and Grofers.
