E-Way Bill Rules Approved by GST Council

The Goods and Services Tax Council (GSTC) recently approved the rules governing the new e-way bill which will replace the previous waybill albeit for the same functions. The council also plans to take stringent action on traders and manufacturers soon with the help of the anti-profiteering clause as a large number of business entities have failed to forward the tax benefits or otherwise to their consumers.

The garment industry can also take comfort in the fact that the GSTC has now reduced the tax rate on the textile and garment sector to 5% from 18%.
