Finance Ministry Asks Lenders to Submit Fund-Raising Roadmap in a Month

The finance ministry has asked the public-sector banks(PSBs) to design and submit their fund-raising roadmaps within a month. This comes in as a part of its recapitalization exercise of Rs. 2.11 lakh crores that aims at improving the financial condition of the state-run banks under massive stressed-assets through budgetary support, recapitalization bonds, and dilution of equity, etc.
A senior official said that PSBs should shift their focus towards responsible banking. He also said that they should decide the areas where they would like to work on within one month before the recapitalization programme starts.
