Finance Ministry Pushes PSBs for NPAs Issue Resolution

With the total non-performing assets(NPAs) standing at over Rs. 7 lakh crores, the finance ministry asked the public-sector banks (PSBs) to aim for swift resolution and regain stability in performance, a banker said.

The ministry brought up the issue during the two-day PSB Manthan that ended on Sunday. According to the source banker, one of the issues that were deliberated during the meeting was improved monitoring for faster recovery from the bad loans.

Using a “differentiated approach” was also suggested by the ministry during the meeting for the PSBs to improve their financials.
