FPIs Investments Cross $1 bn Mark in 2 Weeks

As many as 1 billion US dollars were invested in Indian bonds by foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) during the last two weeks. This is in spite of the volatile market conditions and deterring news including chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian’s views on the monetary policy, deputy governor Viral Acharya’s remarks on the interest rate risks in the banking sector, etc.

Overall, in the first month of 2018, the net funding by the foreign investors stood at $1.35 billion which is a huge growth compared to last year’s mere $409 million that was recorded during the same period.
