Government Announces Measures to Revive the Garment Export Industry

In a bid to boost the garment exports, which dropped by about 40% to $829.44 million in October, the government has announced GST rates for claiming a rebate of state taxes under the Remission of State Levies (RoSL) scheme on the outward shipments of the readymade garments.

In addition to that, the government has also inflated the rates of the incentives under the MEIS twofold to 4%.
The Enhanced Merchandise Exports from India Scheme(MEIS) is an export promotion scheme under which the commerce ministry provides duty benefits on a slew of garments.
