Government Working on Hydropower Policy to Promote Clean Source of Energy

Power Minister R K Singh said that the government is working to extend the fixed cost recovery period of hydro projects from the current 12 years to 30-35 years so that the tariff can be lowered to ₹2 per unit. He said the Ministry also aims to provide ₹16,000 crores worth of financial assistance to the sector and that a new hydropower policy shall be tabled before the Union Cabinet by the end of the month.
