GST rate could rise on mobile phones

GST rate could rise on mobile phones by 18% which is currently 12%. GST council could consider a proposal to raise GST rate on footwear, fertilizers and mobile phones.
An official said, “The inverted duty on mobile phones, footwear, fertilizers has been brought up several times, and it can be raised this time”.
For Man made fibers, textile ministry will not bring a tax slab as it is going to benefit textile sector.
