GST Rates on Hotels Slashed, on Caffeinated Beverages, Hiked

This Friday, GST rate on caffeinated beverages including Red Bull, Coca-Cola, etc. was increased more than twofold to 40% from the previous 18%. However, the rates were slashed for hotels and outdoor catering services.
According to the new rates, GST on hotel rooms that are available at 1,001 to 7,500 per night has been slashed to 12% from 18%. The rate on hotel rooms available at above ₹7,500 per night has been slashed to 18% from 28%. Similar tax reductions have also been offered to outdoor catering service providers.
