GST Refund Issues Putting Bengal Jewellery Exports in Jeopardy

The jewellery makers in West Bengal are facing a variety of problems due to the non-refund of the Goods and Services Tax, something that’s yet to be resolved by the government.
Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association state president Pankaj Parekh said that even he is being forced to turn down orders due to the lack of working capital. He said that about Rs. 60 crores of refund value is stuck with the government which is affecting the entire export industry.
Parekh said that due to the issue not only the exports are slowing down, the jobs are getting affected as well.
