I-T dept launches new e-filing portal

The annual duty office on Monday launched a new portal e-filing 2.0, which will make online filing returns simpler. The new portal – www.incometax.gov.in – replaces the ‘http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in’ site, and can be gotten to by citizens in different regional dialects.

The IT department has asked citizens to re-register their DSC (Digital Signature Certificate), update individual mobile numbers and email ID under ‘primary contact’, follow up on ‘pending action’, assuming any, and react to ‘exceptional interest’.

The portal has separate tabs for various classifications of citizens, similar to singular, organization, non-organization, and tax professionals. It has a drop-down menu for citizens for checking guidelines on ITR filing, refund status, and tax slabs.

There are over 8.46 crore individual registered clients of the I-T e-filing portal. Over 3.13 crore ITRs have been e-verified for Assessment Year 2020-21 (the financial year 2019-20).
