Income Tax Dept Using AI, Analytics to Identify Potential Tax Evaders

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said that using data analytics, the Income Tax department has identified several entities that didn’t file their Income Tax Returns for AY19 even though they were involved in many high-value transactions.
The IT Department has been using a non-filers monitoring system (NMS) that identifies individuals who fail to file their tax returns even when they are found to be entering into high-value transactions.
