Increased Use of Alternative Fuels Can Help Lower Crude Oil Import, Says Nitin Gadkari

To reduce the dependence on crude oil, 70% of which is currently imported, Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has recommended increased use of alternative fuels such as ethanol, natural gas, compressed gas, electricity, etc.

Gadkari said that the raw material for the alternative fuels is readily available in India and can be bought in bulk from the agriculture sector. Thus, it will help increase the income of the farmers too.
