India Announces $25 mn for Development of Myanmar's Rakhine State

India has decided to offer a funding of 25 million USD to Myanmar’s Rakhine State from which about 6,00,000 Rohingya Muslims recently fled due to various acts of violence against them and their community.
Raveesh Kumar, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson said the sum will be provided over a period of 5 years. He also said that it’s an indicative figure and depends on the actual utilization.
Kumar said that with the help of the financial aid, India aims at restoring peace in the state and help the displaced individuals return back to their home country.
