India Needs to Raise Global Trade Share: Arvind Panagariya

According to NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya, India must ignore what’s going on in the US economy and focus on its own domestic policies to increase its global trade share from the current 1.7% to 4%-5% at very least. With the current global merchandise export being USD 16-17 trillion, he said we must increase our take in that pie.

Pointing to the concerns regarding the new American policies, Panagariya said that India needn’t lose its morale, and instead focus on how it can promote trading. He also said that unlike the former US presidents, Trump is actually working on and implementing an agenda based on his promises made during the elections.
