Information & Broadcast industry wants OTT content under its purview

The information and broadcasting (I&B) service has proposed bringing under its purview the content being streamed on the few over-the-top (OTT) platforms, said a top service official said on Tuesday.
At present, the OTT platform that are carefully spilled falls under the space of the service of data and innovation (IT).
Service of data and broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare said, “OTT being an advanced platform will fall under the domain of its service yet now we are proposing a choice that the content should fall inside the domain of I&B service”.
He said, “There is a requirement for a combination of different services (in such manner), especially in the manners in which changes are going on, (it) is very important”.
