Insurance Firms Told to Deposit Farm Compensation Directly into Bank Accounts

Maharashtra government has directed the insurance firms to deposit the funds for the farmers under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme directly into their bank accounts. These pertain to the damage to the crops like soybean, moong, paddy, etc. during the 2017 Kharif season.

Vijay Kumar, state’s Additional Principal Secretary recently held a meeting with the 5 insurance companies that are appointed for the scheme and told them that around 8 lakh farmers from the total 81 lakh that come under the scheme have registered themselves on the online portal.
