Jet Fuel, Natural Gas May Soon Come Under GST

According to a report, the government may soon bring the natural gas and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. However, for electricity, diesel, and petrol, there is time.
Sources said that the petroleum and oil ministry, as well as the aviation ministry, have made a strong case for bringing natural gas and ATF under GST.
Earlier in November, finance minister Arun Jaitley was asked by the industry body FICCI to bring natural gas under GST. A senior official from the tax department had also said that once the revenue flows have stabilized, natural gas could be the next item to come under GST.
