Lands to Have Aadhaar-Like Unique ID Numbers Soon

As the government looks to end dubious land ownership and increase transparency, it may start issuing unique numbers for landholdings across the country.
A senior government official said that the rural development ministry has already started working on assigning a standard unique number to each plot that’s surveyed. Each unique number will bear the details of the state, district, tehsil, street information, etc. apart from the details of the plot itself that includes size and ownership. The number will also be linked to Aadhaar and the revenue court system, the official said.
