Maharashtra Tops in GST Registrations

Maharashtra is ahead of all the other states in terms of fresh GST registrations and migration of existing traders and manufacturers to the new regime.

GST and central excise principal chief commissioner of Mumbai zone, Subhash Varshney said that out of 9 lakh existing taxpayers in Maharashtra who were registered under service tax, VAT, and central excise, about 8 lakhs have migrated to the GSNT portal already. So, that makes Maharashtra on top of other states.

Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, with total GST registrations 5.93 lakh and 5.23 lakh are at the second and third position respectively after Maharashtra.
