Microsoft infuses $2 billion in Cruise

Microsoft has invested $2 billion in a new equity round in Cruise which has pushed its valuation up to $30 billion. Many other organizations have infused more capital in Cruise as the company inches closer to commercializing its technology.

The partnership will provide equal & long-term value for Cruise. Under this partnership Cruise will use Azure, Microsoft’s cloud and edge computing platform, for its upcoming autonomous vehicle ride-hailing service.

Partnership between both the companies aims to provide benefits to both the companies. Cruise will be able to lock in lower prices for cloud services & Microsoft can test some of its bleeding edge systems that can handle workloads needed to bring machine learning & robotics to life.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a statement, “Upgradation in digital technology is changing every aspect of work & life. As Cruise and GM’s preferred cloud, company is going to apply the power of Azure help them scale & make autonomous transportation mainstream”.
