Moody’s Upgrade Could Give Green Projects in India a Boost

The upgrading of India’s sovereign rating by global rating firm Moody’s will allow the renewable projects in India to enjoy easier financing. However, regulatory hurdles continue to be a problem, industry leaders say.

ReNew Power CEO Sumant Sinha said that Moody’s rating upgrade will be especially beneficial for the renewable energy sector which has limited lending options with the domestic banks. However, the government needs to remove the red tape first, especially concerning the renegotiation of the power purchase agreements (PPAs).
