More than 90 Lakh Farmers Benefitted from Crop Insurance Scheme, Officials Tell Modi

In a meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, he was told that over 90 lakh farmers benefited from the crop insurance scheme during last year’s Kharif season the recent Rabi season. Moreover, claims worth more than Rs. 7,700 crores have been paid to the farmers already under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the statement said.
The PMO office said that technologies such as drones, smartphones, satellites, etc. are being used for easier and faster collection of data for the crop insurance claims.
