More than Rs. 9,000 Cr Spent on Aadhaar Numbers in 8 Years

Aadhaar’s prime authority Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has spent more than Rs. 9,000 crore to issue 115.15 crore Aadhaar numbers in the past eight years.

This information was brought up in the Parliament through a written reply to the Lok Sabha by the Minister of State for Electronics and IT P P Chaudhary.

Chaudhary said that Rs. 1,171.45 crore was spent on logistics i.e. printing and dispatching of the Aadhaar letter, and about Rs. 3,819,97 crore was spent on the enrollment process itself. He also said that while 115.15 crore Aadhaar numbers have been dispatched, the actual Aadhaar numbers that have been generated so far stand at 116.09 core.
