Nabard Aims at Doubling Balance sheet in 5 Years

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is planning to grow its balance sheet from the current Rs. 3.9 trillion to Rs. 7 trillion, i.e. almost twofold, in the next five years.

Harish Kumar Bhanwala, who is the chairman of Nabard said that the recently legislated NABARD bill will play a major role in achieving the goal of balance sheet growth.

The NABARD bill was passed by the Parliament last week which now allows the development finance institution to raise as much as Rs. 30,000 crores against the current limit of Rs. 5,000 crores.
